Rehabilitation and optimisation of hydropower in Colombia
Introduction
Colombia's energy mix rebalancing plan aims to increase solar and wind power and reduce the share of hydropower due to relatively limited storage capacity and the risk of drought.
In order to increase the share of solar and wind power, which have more irregular production, it is important to maintain and develop the current hydropower base.
Swedfund has been asked to contribute to Colombia's supply of flexible renewable energy production which will positively impact societal development and lead to to enable development for society and reduce carbon emissions in the energy system. The project includes a review of the status of five hydropower plants to strengthen the reliability and capacity of power generation.
