Modernising and expanding Uganda’s railway network
Introduction
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to modernise, electrify and expand Uganda’s railway network to improve regional transportation and trade.
Uganda is in the process of modernising and expanding its railway network. The goal is to replace the country’s outdated railway network with electrified standard gauge railway and transform regional transport and trade integration as part of the East African Railway Master Plan. A new transmission line for power supply to the electrified railway is needed.
