Strengthening competition in Nigeria’s telecom market
Introduction
Swedfund is financing a feasibility study to develop cost and pricing models for Nigeria’s telecom market. The initiative aims to increase competition, enable investment in digital infrastructure, and contribute to greater digital inclusion, particularly for women.
Nigeria’s telecom sector is central to the country’s economic development, but is characterised by a fragmented wholesale market, limited transparency, and significant disparities in access between urban and rural areas. Millions of people still lack access to reliable digital services, and women are less connected than men.
The project supports the regulator in developing data-driven tools and regulatory frameworks that reduce investment barriers and promote more inclusive digital development.
