Water and wastewater management in Chortkiv Ukraine
Introduction
Swedfund supports the city by financing a feasibility study and conceptual design for the modernisation and expansion of the water and wastewater systems. The project aims to improve access to safe water and sanitation, reduce environmental impact and increase energy efficiency, laying the foundation for future investments and long-term sustainable development.
In Chortkiv, western Ukraine, water and wastewater infrastructure is severely outdated and suffers significant water losses caused by leakage and pipe bursts, low energy efficiency, and limited access to safe services.
The war has further worsened the situation and highlighted the need for robust, sustainable and resilient infrastructure that can meet both current needs and future reconstruction.
