Modernising wastewater treatment in Bila Tserkva Ukraine
Introduction
Swedfund is supporting the city of Bila Tserkva with a feasibility study to modernise the wastewater treatment and collection system for the city.
Bila Tserkva is a city located in the Kyiv region in central Ukraine. The total population is approximately 219,000, including some nearby villages. Water supply and wastewater networks and treatment plants are outdated and inefficient, with a high rate of failures.
The goals are to improve the reliability and resilience of the system and to improve wastewater effluent in compliance with EU requirements. The project is expected to provide increased energy efficiency and service quality for residents of Bila Tserkva. The study will also assess the possibility of producing biogas from wastewater sludge.
