Preventing and responding to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment: new good practice handbook
Since 2019, the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation and Swedfund have been working together to strengthen Swedfund's ability to identify, prevent and respond to risks of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) in its investment portfolio and operations. One key result in this partnership is the publication of the Good Practice Handbook on the Prevention of and Response to SEAH, a practical guide to help fund managers, investment platforms and financial institutions address SEAH risks.

Marie Aglert new Head of Investment at Swedfund

She comes most recently from the Swedish Export Credit Agency, EKN, where she was Director Large Corporates.

Swedfund cooperation with Escom Malawi for transmission project upgrade
Swedfund Project Accelerator cooperates with Escom Malawi on an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), as part of developing the Eastern Backbone transmission grid upgrade project. By improving the grid, more people and industries can get reliable access to power and the conditions to integrate more renewable generation will be improved. This is important because load on the grid increases with energy mix and transition to renewables that mean more unstable flows.

Swedfund is reporting on implementation of IFC’s Operating Principles for Impact Management
The nine Principles for Impact Management were developed by International Finance Corporation, IFC, and a group of asset owners, managers and allocators to describe essential features of managing investments into companies or organizations with the intent to contribute to measurable positive social or environmental impact alongside financial returns. The principles are underpinned by five stages – strategy, origination and structuring, portfolio management, exit, and independent verification.

Solar power to 360 million people – but no plan for e-waste
The off-grid solar power market is providing improved electricity access to an estimated 73 million households globally, or over 360 million people*. The industry is delivering a significant environmental and social impact by mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from traditional diesel power sources and providing reliable, clean energy to low- to middle-income countries. However, there are potential negative environmental and social impacts if the products are not responsibly managed when they reach their end-of-Life.

Swedfund has been awarded the RI Award for Best Report by an Asset Owner: medium & small funds, for their Integrated Report at the RI Reporting Awards 2018, presented at RI Europe on Tuesday 5th June. The prize is given to institutional investment companies with transparent reporting. Swedfund was chosen among 2,500 world-wide reports.
