Transmission network in sunset

Transmission networks in Sri Lanka

:
:

Sri Lanka's energy mix is currently dominated by fossil fuels and the country aims to increase the share of non-fossil fuel power to 70 per cent by 2030. This will require significant additions of wind, solar and possibly new hydropower plants.

The green transition places new demands on the transmission network - both in terms of increased capacity and stabilisation of the network.
Swedfund has been asked to contribute to a responsible phase-out of fossil fuels in Sri Lanka's energy sector. The project will support Sri Lanka's integration of renewable power generation while maintaining reliable grid operation.
