Introduction
Swedfund is a state-owned company established in 1979 . Our business operations are financed through capital injections from the owner and from the returns generated by the investment portfolio. The returns from the portfolio in the form of interest and dividends finance the costs of our operations.
Swedfund has about 100 employees, with head office in Stockholm, Sweden, and regional offices in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Nairobi, Kenya, and Kyiv, Ukraine.
CEO
Maria Håkansson is since 2018 the CEO of Swedfund. Maria Håkansson is a business-oriented executive with experience in finance, M&A, sales, digitalization and new business models. She has a strong track record in building sustainable businesses and a long experience from leading global multi-cultural teams.
CEOMaria HåkanssonBefore joining Swedfund, Maria Håkansson has 20 years of experience from a variety of senior positions at Ericsson. She has also worked a number of years in the shipping industry.
She has held several board positions as is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Munters Group. Maria Håkansson holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in business control and accounting from University of Stockholm.

Board of Directors
Our board, nominated by the responsible ministry, Ministry of Finance, includes a Chairperson and seven members. The members have extensive experience in corporate governance, financial operations, international aid, operational experience from developing countries as well as high financial qualifications.
