First Graduates Complete Power Women Programme in Ukraine
Introduction
The first participants of Power Women, a training programme designed to support Ukrainian women pursuing careers in the renewable energy sector, have now graduated.
The Power Women programme is part of Swedfund’s technical assistance linked to its investment in Scatec’s solar power operations in Ukraine. This initiative is also part of a broader effort to support the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The programme provides technical training, paid internships, career development support, and the opportunity to join a growing professional network in the sector.
Through learning, mentorship, and study visits, participants strengthened their skills and confidence. Despite facing significant personal challenges due to the war, many showed resilience and dedication, advancing the energy sector and driving Ukraine’s green transition.
“Mutual understanding, respect, empathy... I have never seen a team like this before. The scale of the plant is truly impressive: rows of solar panels stretching endlessly into the distance, creating a sense of grandeur and the power of modern technology”, says participant Iryna Chastova.
Following graduation, several participants will continue with internships at Scatec ASA in Ukraine, gaining hands-on experience and opening doors to new professional opportunities in the renewable energy industry.
Power Women is delivered together with by Swedfund International with Scatec ASA, EdEra, FMO, IFC, with support from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
