Our Board of Directors, MD and auditors

Our board, nominated by responsible ministry (since January 1 2015, Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation), includes a Chairperson and seven members. The members have extensive experience of corporate governance, financial operations, international aid, operational experience from developing countries as well as high financial qualifications.

Björn Börjesson, member of the board

Education: Bachelor of Laws.
At present: Consultant.

Torgny Holmgren, member of the board

Born: 1954
Board member since: 2017
Education: Economist from Stockholm School of Economics
At present: Executive Director of SIWI - Stockholm International Water Institute
Board appointments: permanent observer of the Board of World Water Council, member of the Swedish Leadership for Sustainable Development and Board member of Water Aid (Sweden) and the Expert Group for Aid Studies (Sweden)
Former board appointments: He served at the World Bank in Washington DC 1995-2000, at the Board of Directors and in the Research Department in the Chief Economist’s Vice Presidency and Head Secretary of the Stockholm-based international Expert Group on Development Issues (EGDI)

Hanna Lagercrantz, member of the board

Charlotte Salford, member of the board

Board member since: 2014
Education: BA in International Relations, EC Law and Economics from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles and an MSc in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
At present: Associate Vice President External Relations and Governance, International Fund for Agricultural Development.

Mikael Sandström, member of the board

Born: 1967
Board member since: 2017
Education: Dr Econ
At present: Chief Economist at TCO (The Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees).

Our Managing Director:

Maria Håkansson is MD and CEO of Swedfund. Maria Håkansson has 20 years’ experience from the telecommunications industry and extensive experience from a variety of senior positions at Ericsson. Before joining Swedfund, she served as Vice President Internet of Things (IoT) at Ericsson. Maria Håkansson holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in business control and accounting from the University of Stockholm.
