Karin Askelöf, Investment Officer

What are you working with now? 

I work in the newly established Analysis Unit (Research unit ?) at Swedfund. Our task is to focus on in depth analysis, foremost financial analysis, of investments in our portfolio as well as new potential investments. Currently we have several new investments for our board to approve and lately I have been focusing on these investments, covering different sectors, for example a hotel and a fund. During the Summer we have also worked on further developing Swedfund’s Due Diligence process.

Where have you been? 

Recently I travelled to East Africa to meet a potential co-investor. We also visited one of our portfolio companies and other business contacts. During the Fall I will probably make one or two trips to African countries again. Staying in close contact with our business partners and visiting countries we invest in is an essential part of the investment process and the management our portfolio companies.

What is in your in-tray for the immediate future?

I will continue to work with the Due Diligence process and finalise the above mentioned investment in Africa which I am working on together with one of our Senior Investment Managers. It is very interesting to be part of the whole process of developing a business plan into an investment.
